🗓️ CKD Meal Plan Generator

Enter your daily limits - get a 2-week plan from 400 kidney-friendly recipes

Your limits in, a 2-week plan out

Enter the daily limits your nephrologist or renal dietitian gave you. The generator draws on the 400 dishes from the Everyday CKD Recipes page and assembles 14 days of breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner that stay under every upper limit and reach the lower limit for energy and protein - so it never returns a day that is too low in calories. Plain extras (rice, bread, fruit, a spoon of oil) top the energy up. Tap any dish to open its full recipe. Every figure is an estimate for planning; confirm the plan with your care team.

Upper limits are hard caps. Energy and protein also carry a lower limit, so a day is never handed back too light. Defaults below are a common starting point for an adult of about 65-70 kg with CKD stage 3 (eGFR 30-59), not on dialysis - change any field to your own numbers, then generate.

How to adapt this plan

  • Every dish with potato, cassava, sweet potato or plantain (rösti, yuca frita, causa, bœuf bourguignon, mashed potato…) must be soaked and boiled-and-drained as the recipe says - that is what keeps the potassium at the totals shown. If that is hard to manage, tick "skip dishes that need soaking and boiling" before you generate.
  • Do not add salt at the table. The generator keeps sodium well under your limit, so there is room for the occasional higher-sodium food elsewhere.
  • If your dietitian set a lower protein target, lower the protein maximum before generating; the plan will lean on rice, bread and oil to keep the calories up.
  • If you are on a fluid restriction, enter a daily fluid maximum - the generator then counts the water in every dish and every extra and keeps each day under it.
  • If you also have diabetes, treat the honey, jam and sweet desserts as occasional, swap in a low-potassium fruit (apple, pear, blueberries, pineapple), and count the carbohydrates shown on each recipe.
  • Weigh yourself weekly. Losing weight means you need more calories - raise the energy range before you raise the protein maximum.

📐 How the totals were calculated

Each dish contributes its per-serving nutrition from the recipe page (one serving as written). The plain extras - rice, bread, fruit, oil, honey - use per-portion values taken directly from the USDA FoodData Central database.

Tap any plain extra in the plan to open its USDA FoodData Central entry and see the exact government source data - energy, protein, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and more - behind the numbers used here.

Daily figures are the sum of every item that day. They are estimates for planning, not a substitute for the targets and monitoring your care team gives you.

⚠️ Important

This generator is a general planning aid. Your own limits for energy, protein, sodium, potassium, phosphorus and fluid depend on your CKD stage, your lab results, your body weight and any other conditions. Confirm the plan with your nephrologist or renal dietitian before following it.
